Message from the CEO – March 2019

In 2019, our Foundation will welcome the first families to the WCH Foundation Beach House. This house will give families who have a child with a life-limiting illness a place to take a holiday together and make special memories.

I am happy to say that construction is proceeding on schedule and we look forward to welcoming our first family in June 2019.

The entire framework for the house including the ceiling framing, roofing, all the windows and sliding doors are complete and the external cladding is up. The feature brickwork that spans the wall in the main living area out onto the deck has been completed, as has the large concrete slab in the main living areas, ready to be polished once construction is finished.

Finally, all the interior linings and insulation have commenced, and the track for the Patient Handling System in one of the main bedrooms has now been installed. This special feature is just one example of what makes this house so special and makes the impossible possible for our families.

During 2019, we will join the Hospital to celebrate 140 years of caring for families. Our current Appeal looks back on how fundraising for the Women’s and Children’s Health Network has changed over time.

Every year, with the support of our community, the Foundation contributes $1.5 million towards various research projects at the hospital. This year we will be highlighting these Research Rockstars, and how their work will benefit the lives of children and their families in the future.

Lastly, I am excited to announce the launch of the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation Home Lottery. With only 60,000 tickets to be sold and a 1 in 15 chance to win, our first lottery boasts a $1.5 million grand prize home and many more great prizes. Tickets go on sale on Sunday, 31 March 2019.

Thank you all for everything you do to help us support your Women’s and Children’s Hospital. We really could not make a difference without your contributions.
