PICU pick Team WCH Foundation for City-Bay

Don’t be surprised if you see the staff from the Women and Children Hospital’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) hitting the running track before and after their shifts. They have joined Team WCH Foundation for this year’s City-Bay!

Medical Unit Head, Dr Michael Yung, and Nursing Director, Cathy Lyon, are leading their team and hope to have 15 staff and 15 friends and family run in the iconic event to raise money for the WCH Foundation.

Michael, a keen runner, raised $1000 for the WCH Foundation in 2018 when participating in the City-Bay.

“Last year I was able to raise $1000 without publicising that I was raising funds. This year it would be great to do it on a much larger scale,” he said.

“The Foundation has done a lot for PICU over the years, through updating the family overnight and waiting rooms, and purchasing an echo machine. Raising money through the City-Bay allows us to give back to the Foundation,” Michael said.

Cathy said the PICU staff are a great team and that is highlighted with the enthusiasm shown around being involved in the City-Bay.

“In PICU we work really well as a team. We provide great care to children and family when they are at their most vulnerable time.”

The City-Bay is being held on 15 September.
