Over the past 12 months* our Foundation has been able to support a number of ongoing and new projects because of your generous contributions, including:
- Purchase of a new Ultrasound Scanner for the Paediatric Emergency Department (PED). The Ultrasound Scanner you made possible is used in the PED up to 100 per month to take images of a child’s abdomen, producing a clear picture for medical staff of internal organs and blood vessels.
- As part of our Arts in Health Program our Foundation funds eight play therapists across the various wards of your Hospital. Play Therapy provides a creative diversion for children and adolescents during their hospital stay, giving them an outlet for self-expression and to alleviate anxiety through art, play and music.
- Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Parent Room Upgrade. The PICU Parent Room is used by up to 2,190 families each year, providing a peaceful retreat away from the clinical area for parents. This retreat space includes 2 sleep rooms enabling parents to stay close to their child while in hospital.
These are just some of the amazing achievements our Foundation has made in the Hospital because of your support!
*Our impact based on support provide during the 2016/17 financial year.
Our Foundation funds projects to give children and their families access to unparalleled care with access to the best facilities, the most advanced technology and the most comprehensive support programs that anticipate their every need.
We encourage healing through happiness by creating a hospital environment that looks better and makes the hospital experience feel better for patients and their families.
Arts in health
Our Arts in Health program integrates art into the life of your Women’s and Children’s Hospital to improve people’s health and wellbeing. In simple terms we try to make the environment more ‘child-friendly’, making a difference in the hospital environment to help make the time spent there ‘feel better’ for children, their families and the wider Hospital Community.
