A game-changer for little smiles 🦷✨
For many children, dental impressions have traditionally meant uncomfortable putty, long wait times, and sometimes distressing experiences, especially for those with cleft lip, palate, or other craniofacial conditions.
Thanks to a generous donation from Freemasons SA & NT, the WCH Foundation has been able to supply a new intraoral scanner to the Dentistry team at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. This cutting-edge technology takes a digital scan of the mouth in as little as 30 seconds with no need for messy or uncomfortable putty.
For babies like Zoe, receiving treatment for cleft lip and palate, the new technology has made a significant difference.
“Zoe is having naso-alveolar moulding (NAM) treatment which means she needs accurate images of her mouth taken to ensure the mould is personalised to fit her mouth. The new intraoral scanner means the process is quicker and less distressing,” says mum Amy.
Thanks to our supporters, we’re helping create healthcare without limits for babies and children like Zoe.

Creativity meets conservation at the Hospital School 🌊🪼🎨
We recently supported students from the Hospital School at the WCH to take part in a two-day art and environmental workshop led by renowned community artist and educator, Deb Twining.
Through printmaking, painting and collage, students captured the beauty and fragility of the Great Southern Reef using recycled materials.
Together, they created a collaborative installation that offers a calming, reflective space for patients, families and staff, while connecting them with art and ocean conservation.
The completed collages are now on display in the Blue Gallery, located on the Ground Floor outside the Hospital School.
