Thanks to the generosity of the WCH Foundation community, more copies of the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies booklet are being distributed through the Ngangkita Ngartu (Aboriginal Family Birthing Program), helping Aboriginal families access culturally appropriate pregnancy and birth information.
Every mother deserves to feel informed, supported and connected to her culture as she prepares to welcome a new baby.
Developed by the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, the Healthy mothers Healthy Babies booklet was created specifically for Aboriginal women and families in South Australia, providing practical guidance on pregnancy, baby development, labour and birth, while recognising the important role of culture, family and community throughout the journey to parenthood.
It is also a valuable resource for midwives and Aboriginal Maternal Infant Care (AMIC) practitioners, helping them deliver care that is respectful, personalised and culturally safe.
Through donor support, additional Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies booklets have been printed and distributed, ensuring more Aboriginal mothers and families can benefit from:
- Trusted pregnancy and birth information
- Stronger connections with healthcare professionals
- Greater confidence throughout pregnancy and early parenthood
- Access to culturally safe maternity care
Every booklet shared represents another opportunity to support a mother during pregnancy and help give a baby the best possible start in life.
